Welcome to Strive to Attain

Why “Strive to Attain”?  Well, it’s the English translation of my school motto “Pour y Parvenir”.  My old school is Lady Manners School, which is in Bakewell, Derbyshire, UK. The school motto is the same as that of the foundress, Grace, Lady Manners. The Manners family crest, carried over to the school crest, has a peacock in it. Hence the picture at the top of this blog.  I’ll explain the physics of why the peacock feathers show such beautiful colours in another post.  I might do one on variations in English spelling too…

The picture was by Mel from Socal, USA, and is posted on Wikimedia Commons. I have cropped it to fit to the blog header. This file is licenced under the Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike 2.0 Generic licence. Thanks Mel, it’s a great photo.
